- Jaden Corsair - An Understanding
of the child.

-Profile-

Jaden's story truely begins with his Parents: Njorl and Lenei Corsair.

Njorl

Both Njorl and Lenei are Halflings just as their son is (Half Drow and Half High elf). But besides being Halflings, they have one other thing in common: their births were the result of a rape.

In the year 900, a guild of 1000 Drow landed on IcisRo. They tore through the country side indiscriminately attacking villages and taking whatever they wished as their spoils. It was on the year 901 that Njorl was conceived. Lenei was conceived 4 years later in the last wave of the Drow rampage.

Both lived very difficult lives filled prejudice and hatred because of their race. But it was because of this they found comfort in one another

Lenei

Though they found each other, they still wished to find a place where they belonged. A place in the world where their race was not an issue. Njorl and Lenei found this acceptance in the Corsairs.

The Corsairs were sailors known throughout IcisRo (and other parts of the world) for being the only sailors to be able to fight along side the Thames (the fierce Norse warriors). The Corsairs cared not for Njorl and Lenei's race. The only thing that mattered to them was wether or not they could braver the seas with them. They did. Driven by the hope of finding a place where the belonged, Njorl and Lenei proved to the Corsairs in no time that they were strong enough to sail with them. The two were then dubbed with the Corsair name.

They were also given a special token as proof of their accomplishment. A faceless coin that shined a shadow when held up to sun was given to them.

Time passed and on the year of 1004, their son Jaden was born into the Corsair family.

On Jaden's 4th birthday, the Thames had gotten a terrible message from the Goddess of the waters, Cleodina. They were told that the Thames had angered one of the gods and were punished because of it. The punishment, random members of the Corsair and Thames were infected with an incurable virus that would eventually kill them in a number of years. Lenei was one of the infected.

The Corsair and the Thames became enraged and sought after the one god they felt could undo this: Death. They found were Death slept and the Thames set out after it. They demanded the Corsairs to stay behind, should anything happen to them.

The Thames approached Death with one demand: cure the crew of the virus, or be destroyed. Death scoffed and sent his son, Odin, to deal with them. The Thames were wiped out.

Odin then approached the Corsairs and told them of the fate of their Norse comrades. Fearing they would receive a future visit from Odin, the Corsair's disbanded. Only 5 living members of the original 12 kept the Corsair surname. Njorl, Lenei, and Jaden were among the 5.

Njorl, Lenei, and Jaden left IcisRo and Sailed south to the Continent of Emerace. There, Njorl hoped to find a place were Lenei could live her last days in peace. They soon settled in a remote area were other Elves were beginning to settle. Jaden quickly made friends with the son of another elven family: The Kelders. At first, The Corsair's race wasn't an issue to the surrounding families, but as more Elves from the north began to move in, it quickly became one.

The area where they first moved into was now the village of Daggertrace. Many of the townsfolk disliked the idea of a Drow family living around them. Though they weren't favored, the Elder's allowed the Corsairs to stay, as they were one of the first people to inhabit the area. Though Njorl knew the elder's did not know of his wife's illness. For had they knew, he was more then certain they would be exiled.

Njorl had to keep his wife's condition a secret. He couldn't leave Daggertrace even if he wanted to. Lenei's health had gotten significantly worse and Njorl did not want to risk transporting his ill wife to another town. Instead, he never left their home and stayed with Lenei every second he could.

Jaden was the only member of the family to leave the house a regular basis. Out of the home, Jaden was subjected to the same hate and disgust that his parents grew up with. But unlike his parents, he had made a friend at an early age: Flint.

Jaden and Flint grew up together. They treated each other like brothers since neither of them had siblings of their own. They attended the school together. This is where Jaden met Deanna. Deanna took a liking to Jaden because she felt sorry for him. A rivalry for Jaden's attention soon grew between Flint and Dea.

As Jaden and Flint grew older, they grew bored of the school and instead spent their days in the forest that surrounded the village. Here, they spent their days practicing thievery on any outsider that should pass though.

Jaden is now 16 years of age.

Sadly, Lenei has passed on. Njorl and Jaden buried her body under the house and keep her death a secret to the town.

About 3 months after her death, Jaden begins to hear a voice calling him into the forest. Apparently he is the only one who can hear it. Though he thinks at times that it is a prank being played on him by the villagers, he tries to find the source of the voice. As he searches for the voice, he can't help but think in the back of his mind that it may be his mother calling him.

This is where our story begins...
